<p>This course covers the process of inspecting park/recreational facilities to identify hazards, existing and/or potential risks, and non-conformities with Australian Standards and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.<br><br></p> <p><b>Who should attend the Outdoor Playground Inspection Course</b><br> This three day course is aimed at those who are responsible for the operational (monthly to quarterly) inspections and those in a supervisory or maintenance role. Attendees who complete this course will be eligible to take the assessment for the Nationally Recognised Unit of Competency: <b>AHCPGD305A Conduct operational inspection of park facilities</b>.</p> <p><br><b>Presenter - Dr David Eager</b> <br>David Eager is an internationally recognised expert on the safety aspects of playgrounds, play surfaces and related facilities. He is an Associate Professor within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at UTS, he is a Fellow of Engineers Australia, on the National Professional Engineers Register.<br><br></p> <p><b>What Will You Learn?</b></p> <ul><li>Child development <li>The importance of play <li>Accidents, their type, frequency and severity <li>Legislation, the appropriate Acts of Parliament and how they may affect the operator and the inspector <li>Provision recommendations for playgrounds, play value, Disability Assessment, etc. <li>AS/NZS 4486.1:1997, AS/NZS 4422:1996 and relevant sections of AS 4685:2004 <li>Documentation, reporting and importance of record keeping <li>The incorporation of information resulting from routine and annual main inspections <li>A logical and systematic approach to inspecting including risk assessment <li>Operational inspection of approaches to playground including signs, traffic, road barriers, etc. <li>Operational inspection of the immediate playground surroundings such as the vegetation, fences and gates <li>Operational inspection of the active playground area within the fenced surround, i.e. seats, litter bins and other non play items <li>Operational inspection of specific play equipment or play features including surfacing <li>Common faults on popular items <li>Checking of maintenance and other playground actions taken <li>Practical on-site inspection.</ul> <p><em>A delegates training pack will be provided at the course.</em><br><br></p> <p><b>National Recognised Training</b><br><br> On successful completion of this course and assessments you will be awarded the Nationally Recognised Unit of Competency: <b>AHCPGD305A Conduct operational inspection of park facilities</b>.
