<p>The Law for Turnaround Course is a specialist course for those working in the turnaround industry. The course examines the legal issues involved with restructuring financially distressed companies. The course is suitable for professionals working in restructuring or turnaround positions within banks, private equity firms, insolvency firms, accounting and law firms.<P>The course focuses on the legal issues that arise in contract law, corporate law, finance law, taxation law and property law. All of these aspects are relevant for developing a legally effective corporate re-organisation for distressed companies prior to the formal insolvency process. If you are not able to submit your exams response by the set date, a Supplementary Exam will be organised and offered to you for cases of illness, or misadventure. All TMA successful completions attract RPL and credits in other award courses of the University. As such, TMA exams must follow all standard University exam protocols. The Supplementary Exam procedure enables successful completion at a later exam date. Failure to attend or submit requirements for completion – either Final Exam, or a Supplementary Exam, will result in a fail for that subject. <b><font color="red">Resitting the course will attract a course fee – </font> </b>please email <a href="mailto:Tiffany.Yee@uts.edu.au?subject= Law for Turnaround Query ">Tiffany.Yee@uts.edu.au</a><br/><br/> <i>Please note:When enrolling in this course, you authorise your exam results to be shared with TMA.</i><br/><br/></p> <h3>About the Presenter:</h3> <p><b>Michael Sloan</b> <br><i>Ashurst Partner and a current TMA Director</i></p> <p>Michael's experience includes acting for liquidators, administrators and affected creditors in major insolvency administrations including Waterford Wedgwood, Bridgecorp, Bidgee, Pan Pharmaceuticals, New Tel, Enron, HIH, Huon and Pasminco. He has also led teams on both national and international listed company restructurings in the property, telecommunications, managed investment scheme and energy and resources sectors. Michael has assisted his clients to resolve matters quickly and cost-effectively by developing innovative solutions to enable companies to continue to trade (eg pre-packs, loan to own and introduction of distressed investors).</p> <p>An international consultant to the Asian Development Bank, Michael also manages a major law reform project in the region aimed at promoting insolvency law reform in Asia.
