ISF17040 Travel Planning (28 - 29 August 2017)
ISF17040

Travel Plans are site-specific transport strategies that aim to increase opportunities for using active transport (walking and cycling), public transport and innovative approaches to car travel such as car share and car-pooling.

This two-day course enables participants to ‘learn by doing’ through a series of interactive exercises that provide instruction on applying the Travel Plan methodology to a range of different sites (workplace and mixed-use residential). It provides insights and approaches to effective communication with key decision-makers, specifying Travel Plans as part of the regulatory requirements for development consent and on-going management, monitoring and evaluation.

This program is particularly useful for:

Local Council Officers responsible for regulating local transport and access requirements.

State and Federal Government transport professionals responsible for transport policy.

Sustainability Officers responsible for improving organisational sustainability.

Property Developers & Managers looking for ways to improve the sustainability and cost effectiveness of new developments.

Transport Consultants wanting to broaden client services.

Travel Managers responsible for managing organisational transport and site access.

Program topics

Travel Plan Methodology

Travel Behaviour Change strategies

Sustainable Transport Principles

Effective communication with decision-makers in business and government

Regulatory frameworks for Travel Plans

Monitoring and evaluation

Applying Travel Plans to different sites (eg. workplace and mixed-use residential precincts)

Promoting Travel Plan initiatives.

Course outcomes:
Travel Plans provide an administrative platform for greater coordination between property managers, users and public transport service providers. Because Travel Plans become part of the administrative procedures of organisations, a wide range of administrative and organisational options can be leveraged that are often overlooked in other transport planning approaches.

Download the PDF to find out more about the Travel Planning short course

On completing this short course participants are eligible for CPD points with CILTA, PIA, GBCA and AITPM.

About the presenter
Dr Michelle Zeibots MPIA CMILTA, is a Transport Planner, specialising in sustainable urban passenger transport and travel behaviour change in response to changes in supply conditions.

Nicola Ison is an Environmental Engineer specialising in systems based approaches to problem solving, facilitation and development of learning systems.

Cost:

$1,500
$1,350 Early Bird discount for payment before 28 July*
$750 full-time students (student ID required)*
$1,200 UTS Alumni, interstate & international participants before 28 July*
$1,200 per person for 3 or more registrations from same organisation before 28 July*
$1,200 for CILTA PIA AIA GBCA and AITPM members 28 July*

*Discount can be selected from the drop-down box on the payment page.

PLEASE NOTE: Participants seeking interstate and international concessions will be asked to provide proof of interstate or international residence (Drivers License or other ID).
