<p>Lean Six Sigma is the globally recognised best practice methodology for business improvement. Organisations from across all industries and fields, from large to small, have successfully used this disciplined and evidence-based approach to transform and sustain high levels of performance.</p> <h5>Session Dates:</h5> <ul> <li>30 October – 3 November</li> <li>27 November - 1 December</li> </ul> <h3>What is the Purpose of a Black Belt?</h3> <p>Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Project Managers are equipped to lead and carry out high-level complex improvement projects across an organisation’s business groups, units and teams. Project Managers will be able to draw on sophisticated business analysis tools, creative solution development techniques and business improvement governance models learned through Lean Six Sigma Black Belt programs.</p> <h3>Who Will Benefit?</h3> <p>This training program is essential for:</p> <ul> <li>Organisations undertaking a company improvement program, or specific improvement initiatives and seeking to build sustainable internal capability for improvement</li> <li>Individuals keen to upgrade their skills in Six Sigma facilitation to handle complex improvement projects and/or lead business improvement programs in their organisation.</li> </ul> <h3>Program Content</h3> <p>The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt program runs for ten days, with a gap scheduled between each week-long session (Stage 2 and Stage 3). Specific content over the ten days will include:</p> <ul> <li>Understanding the strategic context of Business Improvement</li> <li>Statistical analysis techniques and measurement</li> <li>Six Sigma methodology (technical)</li> <li>Creative development and innovation including De Bono and TRIZ</li> <li>Six Sigma and business process management</li> <li>Team leadership, team dynamics, communication</li> <li>Customer analysis</li> <li>Key Elements of Planning for Improvement, Leadership and Governance.</li> </ul> <h3>Objectives</h3> <p>The Black Belt program aims to equip individuals with the skills to:</p> <ul> <li>Lead complex projects which may require coordination across various organisational levels</li> <li>Assist in the identification of organisations changes required to maintain or accelerate peak performance</li> <li>Lead or assist in the planning for transforming complex improvement initiatives into specific organisational projects</li> <li>Facilitate the implementation of such changes by using effective advanced tools and techniques</li> </ul> <h3>About the Presenters</h3> <p><b>Alan Skinner</b> is a lecturer in the Masters Course on Business Excellence at UTS in the School of Management. A trained Six Sigma Black Belt, Alan has over twenty years’ experience in organisational improvement projects.</p> <p><b>Daniel Ionita</b> is a trained Six Sigma Black Belt with significant experience in facilitating improvement projects, particularly in IT companies, such as Digital Equipment Corporation and Compaq. <h3>Entry Requirements</h3> <p>All participants must have completed: Lean Six Sigma Foundations AND Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.</p> <P><B><i>These prerequisites are essential.</I></b> <p>Participants who have completed similar training programs elsewhere should email <a href="mailto: business.practice@uts.edu.au ?subject=Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Prior Learning Query"> business.practice@uts.edu.au </a> with details of prior Six Sigma Green Belt training including course outline, provider, date of study, and evidence of successful completion.</p> <p>Requests for prerequisite exemption will be made following a review of previous training. They will be at the presenters' discretion and may require a sitting and passing of the Green Belt Knowledge Test. <h3>Qualification</h3> <p>A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to all participants in Six Sigma Black Belt. Please note that this certificate does not provide Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification. Black Belt Certification is only awarded following formal assessment of an approved Black Belt Project. All participants will undertake a written skills assessment test at the conclusion of the ten days of training. <p>Upon completion of the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt program and Certification process, candidates may wish to continue with Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification. Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is the third step in a progressive program of Lean Six Sigma training. Participants must complete the prior program before progressing to the next, as follows:</p> <ul> <li>Lean Six Sigma Foundations (1 day program)</li> <li>Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (5 day program)</li> <li>Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (10 day program)</li> </ul> <p>Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification (execution of Project Improvement Plan) is only mandatory for those who wish to undertake Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification.</p> <p>This short course is not specifically linked to a UTS award course, i.e. no credit points will be awarded.
